Congressional Council Reception

Each year, WIN celebrates the pro-choice, Democratic women of Congress with a reception on the Hill. This is an exclusive event for WIN members and provides a unique opportunity to hear from the women in Congress who embody and represent WIN's values and mission.

2010 Congressional Council Reception

On February 3rd WIN and Congressional Council Chair Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-3) hosted Majority Makers, Movers and Shakers: Celebrating the Pro-Choice, Democratic Women of Congress - our annual reception honoring the members of our Congressional Council and other pro-choice Democratic Congresswomen.

At the event over 125 WIN members were joined by 11 amazing Congresswomen: the Chair of our Congressional Council Rep. DeLauro (CT-3), Rep. Markey (CO-4), Rep. Schwartz (PA-13), Rep. DeGette (CO-1), Rep. Watson (CA-33), Rep. Chu (CA-32), Rep. Speier (CA-12), Rep. Berkley (NV-1), Rep. Titus (NV-3), Rep. Hirono (HI-2), and Rep. Jackson Lee (TX-18). 

These dedicated and fearless leaders told us about the need for more young women to run for office, the importance of female mentors, their activist beginnings, and about the victories and unfinished business for women's rights and equality - here and abroad.   

Every Congresswoman echoed what an important role the next generation of pro-choice, democratic women will play in pushing forward this work and Rep. Titus even said that as a professor who taught courses on women and politics in NV, she told her students about WIN! 

Thank you for joining us at this inspirational event and thank you to all of the pro-choice, Democratic women in the U.S. House and Senate who support the mission and vision of WIN.  WIN will continue to provide opportunities for our members to champion their work, support their re-election campaigns, and ensure that more women join their ranks!
